Official Opening of the FVHRS Sullivan Car Barn

Mayor Doug McCallum, Councillor Judy Higginbotham, FVHRS memebrs Vic Sharman and Frank Horne prepare to cut the ribbon while Councillors Marvin Hunt, Bob Bose, Judy Villenevue, Dianne Watts and Gary Tymoschuk prepare to open the barn doors. Councillor Bob Bose is the first one inside the open doors of the car barn. Guests wait for their winning numbers to be drawn for prizes. Tiller's Folly CD's, Posters of car 30 and a framed photograph of BCER interurban cars approaching Sullivan Station were given away. Guests enjoyed the celebration with cake, tea and coffee after the opening. On display is streetcar #30, the Clover-Belle, to be restored and operate in Cloverdale. Guests had a chance to tour inside car #30 on display inside the car barn. A chance to see the "before" state before restoration is started. Local resident Jim Sullivan, points out carved initials on the original Sullivan Station building. Just below his finger were found the initials J.S. Mayor Doug McCallum and local residents Jim Sullivan and Herman DeWolff pose in front of Sullivan Station. A blow up of the famous BCER interurban cars at Sullivan Station is posted on the original station. Inside the car barn was a display of BCER cars. Posted inside the car barn were photos of many of the BCER Valley line stations in Surrey. Above you can see the original Sullivan Station sign. Members, guests and our SECURITY patrol entering the car barn. Board member Allen Aubert points out the Sullivan sign to a guest. Preparing for the big day, Car 30 sits inside the FVHRS car barn looking like it's ready to go again... The sign outside the car barn with a list of all those groups and people who helped to create and open the FVHRS car barn at Sullivan.
